IPSA Welcomes Research Committee (RC55) on Global Peaceful Change
Publication date: Tue, 15 Jul 2025
IPSA is pleased to announce the formation of a new Research Committee (RC), RC55 - Global Peaceful Change, which was approved at the 148th IPSA Executive Committee meeting in Seoul on 12 July 2025.
The Research Committee on Global Peaceful Change, sponsored by the global Research Network on Peaceful Change (GRENPEC), will primarily investigate the transformation of global and regional orders and examine the conditions for “peaceful change.” In a period of major transitions in international affairs, the new RC will explore how global and regional orders evolve through non-coercive means such as diplomatic negotiations, institutional reforms, and shifts in normative frameworks. The concept of peaceful change will be a core analytical perspective for this Research Committee.
Activities will include panels at IPSA’s World Congresses, annual academic conferences, newsletters, and collaboration with other associations such as the International Studies Association (ISA).
IPSA Research Committees
To institutionalize research activities in political science worldwide, IPSA officially established Research Committees (RCs) in 1970. Composed of members from IPSA and national and regional associations, the 55 IPSA RCs work in specific sub-fields of the discipline to develop research in political science through initiatives based on international cooperation. They contribute to the creation of networks of political scientists sharing common research interests, with the goal of disseminating information, publishing scholarly research, and providing a framework for teaching and research in political science.
