The 30th Annual Conference of the Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA) was held on 24-25 September at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Czechia, under the theme Historical Legacies, Democratic Challenges, and the Politics of Freedom.

Ferdinand Müller-Rommel (IPSA Vice-President and Chair of the Committee on Organization, Procedures and Awards) represented IPSA at the conference and delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. In his speech, he congratulated CEPSA on its 30th anniversary and highlighted the responsibility of professional associations to foster dialogue between political scientists worldwide. He also discussed the current cooperation between IPSA and CEPSA, including the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two associations. Prof. Müller-Rommel invited CEPSA delegates to attend the 2027 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Rome, where IPSA and CEPSA will organize joint panels. During the conference, Prof. Müller-Rommel also met with CEPSA leaders to discuss opportunities for further academic cooperation.

IPSA-CEPSA Collaboration

IPSA and CEPSA signed an MoU to strengthen their academic cooperation at the 2025 IPSA World Congress in Seoul, South Korea. The MoU establishes an official bilateral agreement between the two associations, formalizing their collaboration across several areas. The agreement enables IPSA and CEPSA to organize academic panels at each other’s flagship events (the IPSA World Congress of Political Science and the CEPSA Annual Conference). Since the signing of the MoU, the leaderships of IPSA and CEPSA have met on several occasions to discuss their collaboration, most recently at the 2026 APSA Annual Meeting in Boston.
