IPSA was present at the 2026 General Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), a prestigious global event that was held in Kraków, Poland, from 8-11 September 2026. IPSA was represented by Ferdinand Müller-Rommel (IPSA Vice-President), Marianne Kneuer (IPSA Past President), and Mathieu St-Laurent (Senior Director - Membership, Research and Strategy).

IPSA Roundtable: How to Rebuild Democracies after Backsliding

IPSA Past President Marianne Kneuer also took part in the What are Associations for? Sustaining Political Research under Pressure roundtable, which brought together scholars to reflect on the present and future role of associations in political science. The discussion explored the challenges that associations currently face, as well as the opportunities they offer to strengthen political research and the political science community. Chaired by Daniela Irrera (ECPR Chair), the roundtable also featured Juraj Buzalka (Officer at Large, Slovak Studies Association), Izabela Kapsa (Representative for Summer and Winter Schools, Polish Political Science Association), Roula Nezi (Representative of the Political Studies Association UK), and Claudio Radaelli (Executive Committee member, International Public Policy Association).

IPSA staffed an onsite booth to greet attendees and meet with ECPR delegates, publishers, and leaders of national and regional associations. IPSA’s team provided information on the 2027 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Rome, IPSA’s activities, membership and publications.
