Speakers

  • Michelle L. Dion, American Political Science Review, McMaster University
  • Susan Franceschet, Politics and Gender, University of Calgary
  • Geoff Layman, Political Behavior, University of Notre Dame
  • Andrew R. Lewis, Politics and Religion, University of Cincinnati

This roundtable discussion will consider how the landscape of political science publishing has been evolving in recent years, and it will specifically evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that accelerated some trends and may have generated new dynamics. As the first year of the pandemic drew to a close, journal editors in many disciplines noted a sharp increase in submissions and increased challenges in securing peer reviewers. Evidence quickly confirmed that submissions from male authors had accelerated noticeably more than those from female authors. Essentially the pandemic was amplifying existing inequalities deeply embedded in the profession.

When: Saturday, 17 September, 16:00 EDT.
