Job Description

The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) invites applications for 2 positions as Full-Time Lecturer at the Department of Social Sciences, Political Science Area, specialized in any of the following fields: Public Policy, Comparative Public Policy, Social Policy or Environmental Policy.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

Ph.D. or Doctorate in Political Science, Public Policy, Comparative Public Policy and/or with a specialization in Social Policy or Environmental Policy.

Proficiency in Spanish and English. Command of another language at the intermediate level will be evaluated positively.

Experience in university teaching, at least one year of the fields of specialization.

Academic experience and/or professional, at least two years in the fields related to the application.

Publications in indexed academic journals: at least 2 publications in Scopus, WoS or equivalent journals in the last 5 years.

Experience in academic congress.

Applications from women are especially welcomed.

The specialist who is selected will be able to:

• Teach courses about Public Policies at undergraduate and graduate level (minimum 10 hours per week a semester)

• Supervise undergraduate and graduate students' thesis.

•  Research and publish in top academic journals.

• Organize working groups and academic events in the fields related to the employment.

• Participate in academic networks.

• Present his/her researches in international congresses.

• Participate and contribute to the academic activities within the Department of Social Sciences and the Political Science Section.

Recruitment is expected to start on March 1, 2023, for a 3-year duration. After this term, and upon satisfactory evaluation, the position could be extended for an additional period.

4. Statement on teaching experience (Teaching statement), two pages maximum, which must include the following: a. Personal teaching philosophy based on experience in university teaching. b. What courses or topics related to your subject would you like to teach at the University? c. Statement on ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students’ theses. d.  Your teaching strategies as well as a brief reflection on your considerations in order to apply such methodology. e. Strengths and improvement techniques around university teaching.

5. Statement on research interests (Research statement), two pages maximum, which must include the following:

a. A brief outline regarding your research interests. b. Research skills. c. Topics and areas of research.  d. Summary of research work, indicating his/her most representative achievements. e. Main research topics or projects you look forward to work on during the next 3 years. f. Main academic congresses where his/her research works were presented. g. Two most representative publications of his/her research track record (in cases where a piece has been accepted for publication, a letter or email of acceptance should be included).

6. Two letters of recommendation by researchers or university professors or academic authorities who know your work. Preferably, one of those should come from the Dean, Department Chair or Major Director of the academic institution in which you have taught.
