The Department of Politics and Public Administration in the Faculty of Politics – Law – Economics seeks to fill this position by April 1, 2023, subject to the approval of the University Council and the Ministry of Science, Research and The Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

The Department of Politics and Public Administration conducts research and teaching at the highest level in the areas of (i) democracy and public policy, (ii) international politics, (iii) management and public administration, and (iv) data and methods.

The focus of the professorship in research and teaching should be on conflict studies. The successful candidate has made systematic contributions to the understanding of political violence within or between states. She/he is expected to have outstanding publications in international journals and publishing houses and to have successfully raised external funding. Achievements equivalent to the requirements for a “habilitation” including a doctorate in political science or a neighboring discipline are necessary. The successful candidate offers courses in all degree programs of the department and is co-responsible for the undergraduate introductory lecture “International Relations and European Integration”. A collaboration with the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” is desirable.
