Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Political Science

The Faculty of Political Science and Economics (the “FPSE”) at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position in Political Science (open field: Political Theory, Political History and International Relations History, Comparative Politics, International Politics, Public Policy, or Political Methodology). The start date is April 1, 2027 or later (see below). 

Teaching responsibility
The successful candidate will teach seminars (specialized research seminars) in the Political Science Course of the Graduate School of Political Science, courses related to political science in the Graduate School of Political Science and the School of Political Science and Economics (Undergraduate Program), and other related courses offered by the FPSE.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have outstanding research achievement relative to career stage in the field of political science;
• Applicants must be able to teach courses in Japanese or English;
• Applicants must be able to teach research methods at the Graduate School of Political Science;
• Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree by the time of appointment;
• Teaching experience in relevant courses at a university level is desirable.

Scheduled start of employment
1 April 2027, or 1 September 2027 (or a mutually agreed later date)
