Tech Zone Presentation: A Quick Introduction to QDA Miner and WordStat Text Analysis Software
Sunday, 16 July 2023, at 17:30
Presenter: Normand Péladeau
Room: SJ2 Juan Pablo II Foyer (Tech Zone, Exhibit Hall)

Normand Péladeau will identify the key challenges in analyzing unstructured text data in this presentation. Using WordStat text analysis software, he will demonstrate how text analytics and NLP techniques can help you overcome these challenges and analyze large amounts of text data using exploratory text mining and quantitative content analysis. We will show you how to quickly and easily explore large amounts of text data using techniques such as topic modeling, correspondence analysis, co-occurrence analysis, etc. He will also advise on how to build your own or use existing dictionaries for automated content analysis. In doing so, he will identify common mistakes that researchers often make and the inherent limitations of these techniques by identifying situations where these techniques may fail and the optimal conditions under which they should be used. The 45-minute session will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with Normand Péladeau and gain deeper insights into text analysis.

Tech Zone Presentation: QDA Miner & WordStat: Analítica de textos y computación cualitativa para la ciencia política
Monday, 17 July 2023, at 17:30
Presenter: César A. Cisneros Puebla, Universidad de Tarapacá, Chile
Room: SJ2 Juan Pablo II Foyer (Tech Zone, Exhibit Hall)

*This presentation will be held in Spanish.

Tech Zone Presentation: Content Analysis and Exploratory Text Mining Features of WordStat 2023
Tuesday, 18 July 2023 at 09:00
Presenter: Normand Péladeau
Room: SJ2 Juan Pablo II Foyer (Tech Zone, Exhibit Hall)

WordStat, a software tool first released 25 years ago, is ideal for analyzing large text corpora or quickly exploring smaller text collections. It can automatically extract themes from large text collections using state-of-the-art topic modeling and clustering techniques, or provide a more focused measure of user-defined dimensions using content analysis dictionaries. WordStat can identify temporal trends, generate interactive maps, and differentiate sources using correspondence plots, deviation tables, heat maps, and crosstabs with statistical tests. Normand Péladeau will cover WordStat's main features and highlight some of the most innovative ones to support text analysis efforts. The 45-minute session will conclude with an interactive Q&A session.

Sponsored Session: An Introduction to Text Analytics Using WordStat
Tuesday, 18 July 2023 at 15:30
Room: SJ2 211

In this presentation, Normand Péladeau, CEO of Provalis Research, will identify the main challenges in the analysis of unstructured text data. Using WordStat text analysis software, Mr. Péladeau will demonstrate how text analytics and NLP techniques can help you deal with those challenges and analyze large amounts of text data using exploratory text-mining and quantitative content analysis. Mr. Péladeau will show you how you can quickly and easily explore very large amounts of text data with techniques such as topic modeling, correspondence analysis, and co-occurrence analysis, among others. He will also share some advice on how to build you own or use existing dictionaries for automated content analysis. While doing so, he will identify common mistakes researchers often make as well as the inherent limitations of those techniques by identifying situations where those techniques may fail as well as the optimal conditions under which they should be used.

Tech Zone Presentation: Qualitative Analysis and Mixed Method Research with QDA Miner 2023
Tuesday, 19 July 2023 at 09:00
Presenter: Normand Péladeau
Room: SJ2 Juan Pablo II Foyer (Tech Zone, Exhibit Hall)

First released in 2004, QDA Miner was originally designed as qualitative data analysis software for mixed methods researchers. Over the years, several unique computational features have been added that allow one to analyze larger amounts of text data more quickly and reliably. In this presentation, Normand Péladeau will introduce some of these features, such as the Query-by-Example, Code Similarity Search, and Cluster Coding tools. The presentation will also highlight special features for analyzing open-ended survey responses, social media, interview transcripts, and news, among other sources. Mr. Péladeau will preview some analysis features used to identify co-occurrence patterns and code sequences, make comparisons, and identify trends over time. The 45-minute session will conclude with an interactive Q&A session.
