Politics and Governance, peer-reviewed journal indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science; Impact Factor: 2.1) and Scopus (CiteScore: 5.2), welcomes new and exciting research papers for its upcoming issue "Trending Topics in Migration Research: Critical Issues and Emerging Challenges," edited by Inmaculada Martínez-Zarzoso and Joan Martín Montaner.

This issue seeks high-quality research contributions that explore critical and emerging issues related to migration, its economic impacts, policy challenges, and the role of law and communication in shaping migration discourse and governance.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

• Determinants of Return Migration: Examining the economic, social, and political factors influencing migrants' decisions to return to their countries of origin, as well as the economic consequences of return migration for both migrants and home countries;
• The Role of Remittances in Economic Growth of Developing Countries: Analysing how remittance flows contribute to economic development, poverty alleviation, and financial stability in migrant-sending nations;
• Aging and the Need for Migrants in Developed Countries: Exploring the economic and social implications of aging populations in high-income nations and the role of migration in sustaining labour force growth, social welfare systems and promoting international trade;
• Anti-Migration Policies and Their Consequences: Investigating the effects of restrictive migration policies on labour markets, economic growth, and migrant well-being in sending and receiving countries;
• Legal Protections for Migrants and Refugees: Examining the role of international and national legal frameworks in safeguarding migrant rights;
• Migration and Human Rights: Exploring the intersection of migration policies with human rights law, including issues of discrimination, access to justice, and the legal status of undocumented migrants;
• Media Representation of Migration: Analysing how traditional and digital media portray migration and its impact on public perception and policy-making;
• The Role of Social Media in Migration Movements: Investigating how digital platforms influence migration decision-making, networks, and advocacy efforts;
• Disinformation and Migration: Examining the spread of misinformation about migration and its impact on political discourse and social cohesion.
