Event Details

The International Public Policy Association (IPPA) is pleased to announce that the call for papers for its 6th International Conference on Public Policy (ICPP6) is now open. Hosted by the Faculty of Arts and the Public Policy Graduate Programs at the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), ICPP6 will take place at the University's premises in downtown Toronto from June 27 to 29, 2023, with a pre-conference on June 26.

The call for papers is now open until 31 January 2023. The paper proposals can be theoretical, methodological, and/or empirical, provided they contribute to the research questions of one of the 178 accepted panels. Prior to your proposal submission, we advise you to browse the list of panels to find the panel that interests you the most and to read carefully its objectives and Calls for Papers to thoroughly understand the research questions proposed by the panel chairs. Also, before submitting a paper do not forget to check the format accepted for presentation as some panels will only accept onsite presentations or online presentations. The required format for the paper's presentation is indicated in the first line of the call for papers of each panel. If there is no indication, the panel chairs are open to both online and onsite presentations.

To submit a paper proposal, please follow these steps:

1.    Log In to your account (or create one if you do not have one yet).
2.    Go to one of the 2 possible submission pages:

  • if you already identified the panel that interests you, go to the Conference page and then click on the "submit a paper" button
  • alternatively, you can also browse the list of panels page, click on the "+" icon, or on the "submit a paper for this panel" button inside the panel description.

3.    Fill in the form with the following information:

  • The email addresses of the potential co-authors of your paper. Your co-authors must have created an IPPA account before you submit your proposal
  • Choose or confirm your panel choice from the list of panels
  • Type in the title of your paper
  • Choose the format for the presentation of the paper (onsite/online/ don't know yet). Please make sure to check the format of papers accepted for the panel from its call for papers. If neither "only online" nor "only onsite" is specified, it means they accept both formats.
  • Add an abstract of your paper (300 to 500 words) explaining your paper project, your research question, your methodology, and how it fits with the panel research question

Each author can submit a maximum of 2 paper proposals. As the abstract of the paper must attempt to answer the issues highlighted in the research questions of a panel, the same proposal cannot be sent to two different panels. All proposals which are found to be in duplicate or more will be deleted before the selection process.

Please note that Master's students cannot submit papers. Having a Ph.D. or being a Ph.D. candidate is the minimum requirement. Please also note that no paper submission should be sent via email to the panel chairs or the IPPA team.

For all information and instructions on submitting a paper proposal, visit our dedicated page or send us an email at icpublicpolicy@gmail.com.

The final list of selected paper proposals will be announced in mid-February 2023.

Once your paper proposal has been selected by the panel chairs, you will have to confirm your participation by registering for the conference. Following your registration, you will be able to upload your full paper through your user account on the IPPA website - by the beginning of June 2021.

For more information, visit the ICPP6 dedicated page. We will regularly provide up-to-date information regarding flights, hotels, discounts, and grant opportunities.
