Book/Call for Chapters Description

The Canada and International Affairs book series is seeking out ambitious contributions from academics looking to publish a monograph on international affairs and Canada. This can either be a single author endeavour or a group publication. Any subjects related to the concept of Canada and international affairs are welcome as submissions. Published out of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University, Canada and International Affairs is at the forefront of innovative and forward-thinking work on Canadian foreign policy and Canada’s place within the world of international relations.

Palgrave’s Canada and International Affairs is a timely and rigorous series for showcasing scholarship by Canadian scholars of international affairs and foreign scholars who study Canada’s place in the world. Recent titles include International Affairs and Canadian Migration Policy, Canadian Defence Policy in Theory and Practice, Canada-U.S. Relations, and Justin Trudeau and Canadian Foreign Policy. This series will be of interest to students and academics studying and teaching Canadian foreign, security, development and economic policy. By focusing on policy matters, the series will be of use to policy makers in the public and private sectors who want access to rigorous, timely, informed and independent analysis. As the anchor, Canada Among Nations is the series’ most recognisable annual contribution. In addition, the series showcases work by scholars from Canadian universities featuring structured analyses of Canadian foreign policy and international affairs. The series also features work by international scholars and practitioners working in key thematic areas that provides an international context against which Canada’s performance can be compared and understood. These books are accessible via SpringerLink at most Canadian libraries and can be assigned as textbooks for relevant courses.

The Canada and International Affairs series foregrounds quantitative and qualitative methodologies, especially empirically based original studies that facilitate balanced and fresh analysis to serve theory, policy, and strategy development. Books in this series tend to have a high number of downloads and mentions with 13 mentions and 264 downloads for the recently published International Affairs and Canadian Migration Policy thus far, 2 citations, 32 mentions, and 16 thousand downloads for Canadian Defence Policy in Theory and Practice, 9 citations, 19 mentions, and 6.2 thousand citations for Canada-U.S. Relations, and 15 citations, 52 mentions, and 28 thousand downloads for Justin Trudeau and Canadian Foreign Policy.

Proposals submitted should be original contributions and are subject to rigorous peer review. With occasional exceptions, the editors prioritize proposals based on empirically grounded research using strong quantitative and/or qualitative social science research methods. When submitting, please indicate clearly if the proposal or chapter is under consideration by another publisher.
