Developmental states have played a central role in economic transformation in parts of Asia, raising questions about state capacity, political authority, and public accountability. This panel welcomes comparative and country-specific research on how governments coordinate development, regulate markets, and deliver public goods. Papers may examine relations between bureaucracies, businesses, political leaders, and citizens, and consider whether developmental effectiveness can be sustained alongside democratic oversight and participation.
