The Bulgarian Political Science Association was established in the mid-1970s as the pioneer and sole professional body for faculty and researchers in this discipline. Its membership also includes experts from international relations and European studies. The BPSA’s main goals include: representing the political science community nationally to build a strong, recognizable, and respected academic presence; publishing „Political Studies“ as Bulgaria’s leading political science journal, highlighting essential research in both traditional and innovative political science and interdisciplinary fields; providing a platform for research through regular events like the BPSA conference and other academic forums, including international and national meetings, debates, and roundtables; supporting the professional growth of young political scientists and fostering connections between experienced and emerging researchers; and advancing international collaboration in three key areas: promoting regional cooperation through the Balkan Political Science Association, of which the BPSA is a co-founder; and establishing contacts with other political science associations.
