Background

Recognised as study group in 1982; granted research committee status in 1989.

Objectives

Promotes theoretical and research studies on the historiography and development of the discipline of political science, working with its permanent sub-committee, the International Committee for the Study of the Development of Political Science (ICSDPS). The committee’s approach is a comparative and eclectic one; it is intended to include the theoretical concerns of philosophers of social science, sociological and anthropological views of disciplinary origins and evolution, historical and institutional studies.
