The Australian Political Studies Association’s (APSA) Annual Conference is the Association’s most significant event. It provides an opportunity for political scientists from around Australia and overseas to gather in a collegial atmosphere to present and discuss current research. The networking opportunities are invaluable, particularly for early career researchers.

Following the cancellation of the 2020 Australian Political Studies Association (APSA) Annual Conference at Macquarie University, the Discipline of Politics & International Relations in the Macquarie School of Social Sciences, in partnership with APSA, is excited to be hosting the 2021 APSA conference ‘Politics in the Age of Uncertainty’.

Theme: ‘Politics in the Age of Uncertainty’ recognises the upheavals of contemporary politics in light of, but not limited to, COVID-19, and invites an explicit focus on the causes, manifestations and consequences of the new political, technological and ideological constellations of our time.

When: Monday 20 September – Wednesday 22 September 2021 (Postgraduate Workshop on Sunday 19th September 2021).

Where: We will continue to monitor the health advice of the University, and State and Federal authorities. Our plan is to hold the conference either purely online, as a face-to-face event in the New Arts Precinct Building or a hybrid of both formats.
