Job Description

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer (Assistant Professor) within the Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies with a specialism in International Political Economy.

We seek to appoint a candidate with the potential to further enhance the quality of our research and teaching. We welcome applications from candidates working in any area of IPE, especially those with research interests that touch on matters related to sustainability or technological transformations. 

The successful candidate will be expected to develop high-quality modules for undergraduates and postgraduates, and to conduct assessments of student work at all levels. They will have responsibility for an introduction to IPE class for first-year Politics and International Relations undergraduates, and at least for their first year of employment, will have to be willing to convene a final year undergraduate module on capitalism and crisis.

The successful candidate will undertake research and publish in internationally recognized journals in the field of Politics and International Relations; facilitate impact and knowledge exchange; and seek funding from grant-awarding bodies. In due course, they will also be expected to contribute to the leadership and management of the Department. 

Applicants must have, or be about to complete, a relevant Ph.D. in Politics/International Relations (with a focus on IPE) or a related subject and will need to demonstrate the potential to produce high-quality publications and to provide excellent teaching.

The position is offered on a full-time and open-ended basis, with a start date of 01 September 2021.
