Background

Recognised as study group in 1992; granted research committee status in 1999.

Objectives

RC 39 deals with the issues related with welfare states and developing societies within the broader discipline of Political Science with the objective of promoting research, scholarly interaction and debate on specific welfare states, both that have done well as well as those that have been challenged by the recent developments in a Globalizing world. On the basis of experiences of matured welfare states, RC-39 aims at developing a paradigm that can be applicable and suitable to the socio-economic environment of the less resourceful countries of the developing world.
