IPS Forum Workshop(s): Parallel Inquiries into Scandal, Violence, and the Anthropocene
Fri, 01 Sep 2023 - Fri, 01 Sep 2023
Belgium
Organized by: IPS Belgium
International Political Sociology (IPS) Belgium is hosting a Forum workshop on 1 September 2023 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. After the success of last year’s roundtable on the methodologies of IPS, this year’s event will focus on IPS as a theoretical framework through thematic discussions around the topics of scandal, violence and the Anthropocene. How can IPS help to disentangle power dynamics? What does IPS’ transdisciplinary agenda have to offer to grasp current social and political challenges? Which theoretical tensions can be identified within IPS? Where do we need to situate the contribution of IPS to the literature?
These questions will first be addressed in three parallel workshops (see description below). In an atypical fashion, the discussions will be built on the abstracts submitted by the participants rather than on full papers. Based on the research interests of the participants, their research question(ing)s and challenges, we will engage in conversations led by the rapporteur regarding IPS’ contributions to these topics. These discussions will continue during the plenary session, to take stock of the research lines and contributions identified during each workshop.
Want to join us? You can submit your abstract and briefly present your research interests via this link.
The deadline for application is 30 June 2023.
