

IPSA Welcomes Azul A. Aguiar Aguilar as Summer Schools Coordinator

Azul A. Aguiar Aguilar has been appointed as IPSA Summer Schools Coordinator at the first meeting of the 28th IPSA Executive Committee in Seoul on 16 July 2025.
Prof. Aguiar Aguilar will serve a renewable two-year term and oversee the overall coordination of IPSA’s Summer School program. Her responsibilities include coordinating with partner institutions and local organizers to ensure the continued success and growth of the program.
As a non-voting member of the Executive Committee, Prof. Aguiar Aguilar will present her reports and contribute actively to the Committee on Research and Training (CRT), playing a key role in advancing IPSA’s mission of promoting high-quality research and training in political science.
Biography
Azul A. Aguiar Aguilar is a full-time professor at ITESO, the Jesuit University of Guadalajara and a lecturer at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. Since 2014, she has been recognized as a member of the National System of Researchers of Secihti, level II (2025-2029). She teaches courses in political institutions and theories of democracy and has supervised theses at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Her research interests include comparative judicial politics and democratization processes. She is the author of the book Legal Culture, Sociopolitical Origins, and Professional Careers of Judges in Mexico (Palgrave, 2024). Her main publications appear in indexed journals, edited books, and as chapters in specialized books. She served as an ex-officio member of the IPSA Executive Committee (2023-2025) in the role of Congress Program Co-Chair and was President of the Mexican Association of Political Science from 2023 to 2025.
