IPSA President Yuko Kasuya and several Executive Committee (EC) members will be in Dakar, Senegal, from 7 to 10 December 2025 to participate in the 18th Biennial Conference of the African Association of Political Science (AAPS). This year’s conference will be held under the theme The State, Citizens, Sovereignty and Africa in Global Politics.

On 8 December, President Kasuya will address the delegates during the AAPS Congress opening ceremony, which will follow a special IPSA panel titled Co-creating IPSA–AAPS Africa Online Workshop Series: Aims, Partnership, and Sustainability. Chaired by President Kasuya, the panel will feature Kgothatso Shai (IPSA Vice-President, University of Limpopo); Serge Granger (Co-Chair, IPSA Task Force on African Engagement, University of Sherbrooke); Nadine Machikou (AAPS Vice-President, 2025 AAPS Congress Chair, and former IPSA EC member, University of Dschang); and Christopher Isike (AAPS President, former IPSA Vice-President, University of Pretoria).

Later that day, President Kasuya also plans to meet representatives of national political science associations to discuss their activities and challenges in the post-pandemic era. The discussion will also include AAPS members’ participation in IPSA’s 2026 regional conference in Wrocław, Poland, as well as the 2027 IPSA World Congress in Rome.
