IPSA and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) leadership met on 16 July at the 2025 IPSA World Congress in Seoul to discuss shared priorities and explore future collaborations. The meeting was attended by IPSA President Yuko Kasuya, ECPR Chair Daniela Irrera, IPSA Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski, and WC2027 Local Organizing Committee Co-Chair Raffaele Marchetti.
Since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the 2023 IPSA World Congress in Buenos Aires, the long-standing partnership between IPSA and ECPR has continued to grow on several fronts. This meeting aimed to further strengthen cooperation and foster dialogue between the two leading academic organizations in political science.
Discussions focused on the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on political science research and publishing, as well as opportunities for collaboration on developing shared AI guidelines with other major political science associations.
The participants also explored opportunities to expand IPSA-ECPR collaboration at upcoming events, including the 2025 ECPR General Conference in Thessaloniki (26–29 August) and the 2027 IPSA World Congress in Rome, where jointly organized partner sessions are being planned.
