IPSA at the 4th National Congress of the Turkish Political Science Association

The 4th National Congress of the Turkish Political Science Association (SITD) was held at Izmir University of Economics, Türkiye, from 20 to 21 September 2025. The event brought together a vibrant political science community, with 240 papers presented across 63 panels. In addition to participants from 89 Turkish universities, the Congress welcomed numerous Turkish scholars working abroad, representing 21 international universities.
IPSA President-Elect Hasret Dikici Bilgin and Executive Committee member Berk Esen served on the Organizing Committee of this event. They took the opportunity to promote the upcoming 2027 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Rome. Prof. Esen also participated in several sessions as a presenter.
The plenary session, Politics and Democracy in the Shadow of Multiple Crises, featured Prof. Esen as well as Filiz Başkan (Izmir University of Economics) and Zana Çitak (Middle East Technical University). Prof. Esen also chaired the panel, The Dual Nature of Authoritarianism: Domestic Dynamics and International Factors, which included presentations by Senem Aydın-Düzgit (Sabancı University) and Mustafa Kutlay (City St George's, University of London).
