We are pleased to announce that the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) College of Asia Pacific Studies in Japan has an open tenure track position at an assistant or associate professor level.
About the position:
One (1) position in International Relations and Politics (Asia Pacific) to teach such courses as:
- Liberal Arts Subjects "Introduction to Political Science", "Introduction to International Relations", "Introduction to Comparative Politics"
- Undergraduate Major Subjects "International Political Economy", "International Relations in Asia-Pacific", "Theory of International Relations", "International Dispute Resolution", "Development Politics", "Comparative Political Economy in Asia-Pacific," "Conflict and Development", "International Issues and Policies", "Public Policy", "Post-Cold War Conflict and Geopolitics”, “Violence and Terrorism”, “Identity and Politics”
- Graduate School Course "International Political Economy", "Comparative Politics and Government", "Conflict Resolution", “International Security”
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the qualifications noted below.
1. Ph.D. in a relevant field (or is scheduled to obtain one within one year of appointment), or with academic achievements equivalent to a Ph.D.
2. Have multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or books in the field of political science and international relations.
For ABD (All But Dissertation) cases, candidates must have passed the screening for their dissertation plan and be eligible to submit their dissertation.
3. For an appointment at the Associate Professor rank, a minimum of three peer-reviewed journal articles is required.
4. Sufficient English proficiency to teach, conduct research, guide students, and engage in administrative duties.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
1. Ability to teach and carry out administrative duties in Japanese is an advantage.
2. Ability to teach postgraduate courses. Postgraduate courses are taught only in English.
3. Ability and willingness to work in a culturally and academically diverse school.
4. Commitment to assurance of learning and meeting the standards for accreditations.
