Candidates with research specializations within the field of EU Foreign and Security Policy are invited to apply. In terms of teaching, the successful candidate is expected to be able to cover the full breadth of theoretical and methodological approaches in EU Foreign and Security Policy.
Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Doctoral degree/PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution;
- Habilitation (venia docendi) in a subject field relevant to this position or an internationally accepted equivalent qualification;
- Outstanding achievements in research, excellent publication record and international reputation in EU Foreign and Security Policy;
- A demonstrated ability to procuring and managing large research projects, as well as the willingness and ability to lead research groups;
- Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, teaching experience at universities as well as the ability and willingness to teach students in all phases of their studies (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level), to supervise academic theses and promote young academic colleagues;
- Expertise in the EU’s foreign policy towards a particular world region would be desirable.
The primary language of instruction at the Academy is English. The successful candidate is expected to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching and for participation in committees.
