Institute for Sociology and Social Research

Fulltime, 40 hours/week
Starting September 01, 2022, and ending after 6 years

What to expect

  • Research: You will conduct research in quantitative social science methodology and political economy, publish in leading social science journals and develop your own research agenda further.
  • Research Funding: You will be given the opportunity to apply for external funding.
  • Teaching: You will conduct and accompany teaching at the BA and MA level to the extent of 4 semester hours per week in social science methodology.
  • Supervision: You will be supervising BA theses and co-supervising MA theses.

What you have to offer

  • Academic degree: You have a completed doctoral degree or PhD in Political Science or Economics with a specialization on Political Economy, or related fields
  • Research experience: Knowledge in advanced quantitative research methodology including research design and quantitative methods
  • Strong scientific track record: You have already published in the aforementioned research areas.
  • Acquisition of grants: Experience with grant-writing would be an advantage.
  • Networking: You have an established international academic network and frequently collaborate with international colleagues.
  • Language skills: You have excellent writing and communication skills in German and English.
  • Teaching experience: You have expertise in teaching at Bachelor and Master level, ideally in the fields of social science methodology and political economy.
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You have experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn
  • Statistical Software: You have excellent skills in R, Stata, and/or Phyton or similar.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €4,061.50 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
