Job Description

The Department of Social Science at the Universidad de San Andrés (Buenos Aires, Argentina) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Political Science and Government, starting in February 2026. The search is open to candidates in all areas of Political Science, and applications from all research fields will be considered.

Position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and conduct research. Teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses, with a total teaching load of three courses per year. The candidate will develop an independent research agenda in their area of expertise, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and supervise graduate and undergraduate theses. The position also includes opportunities to contribute to the institutional development of the 

Department and the University

The selected candidate will receive research funding and, among other benefits, will be eligible for a sabbatical after six years of teaching.

Requirements. Applicants must have completed, or be close to completing, a Ph.D. from a university of international standing. Candidates must demonstrate research potential and teaching
ability at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates who are not fluent in Spanish are expected to be able to teach in Spanish within three years.

Application. Interested applicants should send the following materials:

1. A cover letter explaining their interest in joining the Universidad de San Andrés, outlining their research agenda and teaching areas;
2. A curriculum vitae including details of graduate and undergraduate education, academic publications, conference presentations, and other relevant research activities. The CV should also list graduate and undergraduate courses previously taught;
3. Up to two peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters demonstrating their research capabilities. Manuscripts under review or thesis chapters may also be submitted;
4. A sample syllabus for an undergraduate course on any topic relevant to Political Science;
5. Teaching evaluations from previously taught courses, if the candidate has teaching experience;
6. Names and contact information of two academic references. The selection committee will request letters of recommendation from these referees for the shortlisted candidates.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to give a job talk at the Department and to an interview with the selection committee. Job talks and interviews may take place remotely.
