ISA Midwest Annual Conference 2024
Fri, 22 Nov 2024 - Sat, 23 Nov 2024
St. Louis, États-Unis
Organized by: ISA
Contact: isa-midwest2024@isanet.org
The International Studies Association-Midwest is pleased to invite you to submit proposals for its annual meeting on November 22-23 at the Hilton at the Ballpark, St. Louis, Missouri, USA. We welcome papers, panels, roundtables, and workshop proposals related to any subjects in international studies, broadly defined. The deadline for paper and panel submissions for the ISA-Midwest conference is Friday, June 14.
All paper and panel proposal submissions must be made through the ISA submission software. Faculty members attending the conference may be asked to serve as chairs and/or discussants. Please make sure to indicate your areas of expertise when submitting your proposal.
This year’s conference will feature a talk by and a roundtable in honor of the 2024 Quincy Wright Distinguished Scholar, Dr. Leah Windsor. Dr. Windsor is an Associate Professor in the Department of English (Applied Linguistics) and the Institute for Intelligent Systems at The University of Memphis.
ISA-Midwest is home to many editors or associate editors of the ISA journals, senior and junior faculty, graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to receiving helpful feedback on research panels, the conference allows many opportunities (editors’ roundtable, panels on professional issues and skills) to interact with colleagues across the region and beyond.
This year, ISA-Midwest will continue its Emerging Scholars Forum and the Pay It Forward mentorship programs. Similar to ISA's Early Career Workshops, the Emerging Scholars Forum offers junior scholars an invaluable opportunity to receive in-depth feedback from a senior scholar in the field. Senior graduate students and junior faculty (those who received their PhD within the past 2 years) are encouraged to apply for these panels when submitting paper proposals for the program. The selection process is competitive, but applying for ESF consideration does NOT exclude a paper from being included in the regular program if it is not selected for this forum. The Pay-It-Forward Mentoring Workshop is sponsored by ISA-Midwest and offers female-identifying graduate students and junior faculty a chance to network and gain insight from senior scholars in the field. Please look for a separate call for applications in the coming weeks.
Students, both undergraduate and graduate, are especially encouraged to apply. Likewise, professors at teaching-centric institutions, such as community colleges, minority-serving institutions, and small liberal arts colleges are encouraged to submit papers, panels, and workshop ideas.
