53rd Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis

While the Essex Summer School cannot run in its traditional format this year, there has been substantial demand from our participants in continuing with our courses in 2020. In response to this, we are able to offer many ESS courses online in a live, interactive format. We hope this will provide many of you with the opportunity to continue your training into social science research methods over this coming summer.

If you are interested in our courses via online delivery, you may apply using our application form. Only those on this list of ESS courses are currently available for enrolment.

Courses will run for the duration of the time period originally advertised. The timings of courses are in listed in the “schedule” pages and take place in either morning or afternoon BST.

We will conduct sessions via the video conferencing software Zoom. Participants must have access to appropriate computing facilities as well as a reliable internet connection to enable full participation in the online sessions. In addition, many of our courses will be able to offer recordings that will be available to those enrolled.

ESS will ensure that each participant has access to the necessary software to participate in their course, along with other materials, as part of your course fees.

To maintain as much of the spirit of the traditional summer school as possible, ESS will include activities to facilitate interaction among participants. These will include research presentations from students and staff members, as well as opportunities to get to know your fellow participants.

ECTS Course credit will still be available for courses when taking the single-course exam.
