War, commitment and reassessment: What’s the role of conflicts on world under-development and the new agentic AI?

This panel proposes to address the role of conflict in modern warfare, namely the role of drones, AI, and agentic strategies in shaping the global balance.
A reassessment of world conflicts, including regional conflicts, is welcome, namely the Global South, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa.
Contributions to wars over natural resources such as oil and rare earths, recalling Dutch disease or natural resource curses.
Conflicts are framed through the roots of Nye’s tradition of hard versus soft power, but also through the nature of smart power, particularly as agentic AI fosters them.
Papers that reassess climate fighting and the economic dividend of natural resource exploitation are particularly welcome.
Methodologies can be either quantitative (econometrics, OLGs) or qualitative, such as qualitative surveys or even simple case studies.
Engagement in identifying consequences for global development in the short, medium, and long run is particularly welcome, especially for the Global South, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and also Africa.
