Smart Cities Governance and Participation: AI Implementation Challenges

Smart mobility, smart energy, smart administration and smart planning demonstrate the most innovative local government AI practices. However, smart cities also rely on online participation. The first developments and implementations of AI demonstrate how participatory projects incorporate smart technologies and try to strengthen representation, argumentation, feasibility studies, and so on.
Another focus is on participation in technological decision-making in smart cities and on the best practices of co-creation. What capabilities are needed in local adminstration? Is technological autonomy relevant, and is a strong dependency counterproductive? Finally, transparency and interoperability in smart city-data present challenges for open government data, not only in federal countries.
