Description

This panel invites presentations on new and developing research that uses comparative or non-comparative methods to explore the association between politics, health and health policy. Researchers exploring how politics influences health policy, health systems or population health, or, alternatively, how health, health systems or health policy influence the political environment, are invited to submit a proposal to present at this in-person panel. The political realm includes government and influential interest groups (community, health sector and commercial) and the power they wield over decisions of health policy. Topics can include but are not limited to: preventive health, environmental health, commercial determinants of health, and/or health system reforms designed to address expenditure, access, coordination, governance, quality of care, equity and/or participation, including associated power structures and dynamics.
