Governments across Asia confront insurgency, terrorism, communal conflict, political violence, and other security challenges. Responses can protect citizens while also expanding state power and restricting rights. This panel welcomes papers on the politics of security and violence, including emergency measures, counterinsurgency, policing, peace processes, and civilian oversight. Contributions may examine how security policies affect democratic institutions, political participation, human rights, and the prospects for peace.
