Market-oriented reforms have shaped development strategies across Asia, but their effects on inequality, social protection, labor, and public services remain contested. This panel invites papers examining the political foundations and consequences of neoliberal policies and their alternatives. Contributions may address privatization, deregulation, welfare provision, labor relations, fiscal policy, and development coalitions, as well as how economic change affects political legitimacy, participation, and demands for redistribution.
