The main objective of the Summer School “Sustainable development: Conflicts and their Solutions on Post-Soviet Space” is to give students from the EU understanding of different conflicts on Post-Soviet space on theoretical and practical base. For this reason, we worked out an intensive educational program with huge practice component, showing the history and actual political problems. Main subjects of our summer school are: – “history”, historical perspective on the problem of conflict existence; – “culture”, traditions and differences in mentalities and ideologies of peoples in post-soviet countries; – “politics and geopolitics”, development of CIS, different points of view and political reasons of conflicts (including economic one) and, of course, a deeper look on all “conflicts on post-soviet space” and “conflict-management”. All these modules consist of lectures, seminars and practical work, like meetings with national minority organizations or active workshops. To complete the program there will be also excursions around Kharkiv region, which are connected with topics of the modules. The main objective of the Summer School “Sustainable Development: Conflicts and their Solutions on Post-Soviet Space” is to analyze the contemporary political and economic processes that take place in nowadays Ukraine and Post-Soviet countries and get better understanding of the local conflicts and their possible solutions. Summer School propose intensive educational program with practical component, covering multidisciplinary topics (150 hours). Lectures and workshops will be delivered by well-known professors and politicians from Ukraine. The modules of the Summer School consist from lectures, workshops, study visits, informal meetings with politicians and professors, national minority organizations, refugees from Donbass. At the end of the Summer School students are expected to prepare and present their projects on Effective Conflict Prevention and Resolution. • the candidate must submit a document package which includes: • the completed online application form(http://goo.gl/forms/f4o93htR94); • curriculum vitae (CV); • motivation letter. CREDITS V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is a fully accredited university in Kharkiv, Ukraine. All credits should be transferrable towards your degree in your college or university. Students are encouraged to check with their academic advisor and/or the Registrar’s Office to find out more about their school’s credit transfer policies. The programs outlines are available on our website. V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University mails official transcripts to your school of record upon the completion of the program. Overall there will be given 5 credits for this summer school. ACCOMMODATION Participants of the Summer School will be accommodated in double or triple hotel rooms. Breakfast and lunch are included. CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AND FIELD TRIPS You will have walking trips around the city with various theme topics to choose from. Weekend day trips around Kharkov area will be included and you will be blown away by the spectacular Slavic ancient traditions that you might be part of. EXCURSIONS Sightseeing tour of Kharkiv (Kharkiv). History-tour: “The original and little-known monuments of Kharkiv” (Kharkiv). Excursion: «Kharkiv multinational» — a tour around Kharkiv with elements of ethnographic practice (Kharkiv). It based on Kharkiv outskirts. Additional information: National Sorochynsky Fair is the largest exhibition and trade fair event in Ukraine. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it has survived from the XVIII century to the present day. Traditionally it is held once a year. The Fair is extremely graphically described in the story of the genius of the world literature Mykola Gogol «Fair at Sorochintsy» (the cycle of stories «Evenings at Hamlet next to Dikanka»).
