IPSA President Prof. Kneuer Addresses the 14th Congress of the Spanish Association of Political and Administrative Science

IPSA President Prof. Marianne Kneuer delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 14th Congress of the Spanish Association of Political and Administrative Science on July 10, 2019.

Before the keynote speech, Prof. Kneuer thanked the representatives of the Spanish Association of Political and Administrative Science as a very active member of IPSA and highlighted the important contribution of the Association to the political science community.  

Prof. Kneuer also thanked Prof. Carlos Jalali (Portuguese Political Science Association President), who was also invited to the congress to deliver a welcome address at the opening ceremony, for his and the Local Organizing Committee’s contribution to the upcoming IPSA World Congress in Lisbon (25-29 July 2020).

Both Prof. Kneuer and Prof. Jalali warmly invited the Spanish colleagues to the 2020 IPSA World Congress in Lisbon.

In her keynote speech, titled “Social Networks and the Public Sphere: Promises and Problems,” Prof. Kneuer exposed that we are confronted with another structural transformation of the public sphere in the digital era. She outlined the significant impact of digitalization not only for political communication and interaction, but also for the concepts of public and private.

The 14th Congress of the Spanish Association of Political and Administrative Science is being held at the University of Salamanca under the theme “Political Science in the New Politics” and gathered more than 500 scholars.
