Tasks:

  • The project analyzes institutional powers and internal decision processes of parliamentary business committees (such as the Council of Elders in the German Bundestag or the Backbench Business Committee in the British House of Commons). Prof. Sieberer is happy to provide further information on the project (email contact below);
  • You are responsible for all aspects of the project (theory building, data collection, data analysis, conference presentations, publications) jointly with Prof. Sieberer and have considerable leeway in setting priorities for the project;
  • The project is part of a research group on collective actors at the Department of Political Science. Active cooperation with other projects and participation in joint activities are expected.

Requirement profile:

  • Finished (or almost finished) doctoral degree in Political Science, preferably in comparative politics;
  • Internationally visible publications and presentations at international conferences;
  • Advanced skills in qualitative methods, esp. qualitative content analysis and expert interview, as well as sound knowledge of sociological and rational choice institutionalism;
  • Quantitative methods skills as well as basic knowledge of and interest in social psychology are desirable;
  • Very good English skills, ability to do independent scientific research and the ability to work in a team are expected. At least a working knowledge of German is desirable.
