Consistent with the mission of the University, applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship. Ideally, candidates will be conversant in one of the official languages of Switzerland.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. at the time of hire with a specialization in Comparative Politics. The successful candidate’s research interest will cluster around the comparative analysis of political institutions and processes, political communication and participation, and/or political cultures. Candidates with research interests in the field of comparative public policy are especially encouraged to apply. We welcome the application of scholars utilizing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches. The successful candidate will have a well-established research agenda and the potential to successfully apply for competitive Swiss and EU-funded projects in the future.

Candidates will be expected to engage in interdisciplinary teaching, and contribute to the Academic Travel program, which is a fundamental part of Franklin’s international, interdisciplinary, and intercultural curriculum. A normal course load is six courses per year, including a course with an Academic Travel component (18 Carnegie credit units / 36-38 ECTS annually).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the development of a graduate program, in which they are expected to eventually also teach. As such, candidates with a strong commitment to institutional service, a high degree of motivation for organizing events, and a passion for creating innovative programs are especially encouraged to apply.

Videoconferencing interviews will be followed by on-campus interviews for finalists. Please submit in a single PDF document containing a letter of application, CV with names and contact information for three references, a writing sample, and recent teaching evaluations to POLsearch@fus.edu.

Review of applications will begin 1 February 2022, and continue on a rolling basis.
