In 2009, the Prize of the Foundation Mattei Dogan Awarded by IPSA for High Achievement in Political Science went to Philippe Schmitter, here giving his award lecture.

IPSA Awards were handed out during the Closing Ceremony, on July 16, 2009. Here, Anne-Marie Holli, co-recipient with Milja Saari (absent), is granted the Wilma Rule Award on Gender and Politics by Lourdes Sola.
The Francesco Kjellberg Award for new scholars is given here to Rafael Piñero, co-recipient with Mauricio Morales (absent), by Lourdes Sola. Two of the recipients of the Stein Rokkan Award, Luciana Santana (L) and Erika Gorbak (R) receive their diplomas from IPSA past president, Lourdes Sola. The third winner, María Fernanda Boidi was absent. A traditional Chilean dance troupe entertained the audience at the Closing Ceremony as part of the cultural programme. The National Folkloric Ballet of Chile received rave reviews from congress attendees that were able to stay until the Closing Ceremony July 16, 2009.
