Scivee.tv: Pioneering New Modes of Scientific Dissemination Print E-mail
NSF, the UCSD Computer Center, and the Public Library of Science (PLOS) have launched (in Alpha Release) a parallel free videocast service for research lectures and colloquia in the physical science (including international public health and environmental science): http://www.scivee.tv. The service brings the best and latest research (1-2 years before print publication) to the desktops of students and scientists in all countries. One hope is that the project will improve the creative process in science and accelerate the work of scientists to solve urgent global challenges. The site also provides useful technical information and tutorials to assist in preparing video uploads. The designers will respond to evolving technologies and recommendations for new features to support emerging international research networks and user communities. For further information, contact A.
