BackgroundRecognised as study group in 1992; granted research committee status in 1999.
ObjectivesFacilitates the exchange of ideas among political scientists and stimulates co-operative effort on global environmental change. Three major areas of research are covered: on inputs into the political system (public opinion, the study of mediating agents, and the study of how scientific findings influence policy decisions); outputs (how governments respond to environmental change, as shaped by the institutional context, and the values, beliefs, skills and interests which decision makers bring to a problem) and outcomes: the implementation of public policy, the impact on society and the impact of policy-induced change on the environment.
