Paul Godt (France), Editor, International Political Science Abstracts Print E-mail

Paul GodtPaul Godt was born in the suburbs of New York City in 1943. A Fulbright grant in 1970 brought him to France, where he taught at the University of Grenoble and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques. He later began teaching at the American University of Paris, where he is now professor emeritus of political science and served as dean of academic affairs, 1995–98. After undergraduate work at Bowdoin College (Maine, USA), and studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, he earned his MA and PhD from the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research, in New York City. His research has focused on French and European public policy issues, in particular, the comparative politics of health care reform in Europe. He edited and contributed to Policymaking in France: from de Gaulle to Mitterrand (1989).

Serge HurtigSerge Hurtig, born in 1927 in Bucharest, has lived in France since 1939, except for four years (1942 to 1946) in Buenos Aires and two years (1946 to 1948) in  Washington, D.C., as a student at the Georgetown University  School of Foreign Service. He graduated in 1950 from the Paris Institut d’Etudes Politiques, and was before  his retirement in 1995 a member of the Graduate Department of Political Science of the Institut, as well as Secretary General (1971-1991) and then Scientific Director (1991-1995) of the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques – the two institutions known jointly as “Sciences Po”. He also held teaching positions at the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University and the Grenoble and Bordeaux Instituts d’Etudes Politiques.

 His connection with IPSA dates back to 1952, when he attended the Hague Congress as assistant to Jean Meynaud, then Secretary General. He was IPSA’s Secretary General from 1960 to 1967, and Vice President of the Executive Committee from 1979 to 1985.  Appointed in 1963 editor of the International Political Science Abstracts, which had been founded in 1951, he was joined in that position by Paul Godt in 2000. Paul Godt became editor in 2003, with Serge Hurtig continuing as co-editor.

 He had been one of the founders of the ECPR and of  the French-American Foundation (France). Mark Kesselman

Mark J. Kesselman is professor emeritus at Columbia University (USA) and is author of scholarly articles in American Political Science Review, Comparative Politics, World Politics, and elsewhere, as well as author, co-author, or editor of The French Workers' Movement: Economic Crisis and Political Change (1984), European Politics in Transition (sixth edition, 2009), and Introduction to Comparative Politics (fifth edition, 2010). His research and teaching focus on globalization and the political economy of advanced capitalism, with particular attention to French politics, the left, and organized labor in Western Europe.

Mauro CaliseMauro Calise (1951) is Professor of Political Science at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy.
His main research areas include: political parties, executive elites, state thoery, e-government, political communication, concept analysis.

Among his major research projects, he has been in charge for the concept and software development of the Web Portal for the 3rd International Global Forum on "Reinventing Government", Naples, March 2001 and is now working at a Platform Upgrade for Research-oriented Access.
He is currently working, with Theodore J. Lowi, at completing Hyperpolitics, an Interactive Encyclopedia of Political Science and a computer based platform for the hypertextual investigation of political science concepts.

He has been Visiting Professor at Cornell University (2002, 1997, 1991) and Research Fellow at the Center for European Studies, Harvard University (1978-79).

His latest book, Il partito personale, Laterza 2000, focuses on the personalization of party organization in the era of mass communication. His latest English publications include: Corporate Authority in a long-term Comparative Perspective- Differences in Institutional Change between Europe and the United States, “Beihefte zur Rechtstheorie", Supplements to Legal Theory, Duncker & Humblot , 2002 and (co-author, with Theodore J. Lowi), Hyperpolitics: Hypertext, Concepts and Theory-making, "International Political Science Review", 2, 2000

He serves on the editorial boards of "International Political Science Abstracts", "International Political Science Review", "Rivista italiana di Scienza Politica", "Quaderni di Scienza Politica".

 
Bertrand Badie (France), Editor, Encyclopaedia Print E-mail

Bertrand BadieBertrand Badie holds advanced graduate degrees in political science and twentieth-century history from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris (IEP), earned the state "Agrégation" in Political Science and a Institut des Langues Orientales diploma. He was awarded his doctorate in political science from the IEP in 1975.

He is professor at the IEP, director of publications at the Presses de Sciences Po (university press) as well as the Sciences Po graduate program in International Relations, and since February 2002 has directed the Rotary Foundation Center for International Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution.
