Nominations for IPSA Awards

Nominations are now open for the following IPSA Awards. All the awards will be presented at the 25th IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Brisbane, Australia (21-25 July 2018).

The Karl Deutsch Award

  • Amount: US$1,000
  • Nomination deadline: 15 November 2017

The purpose of the Karl Deutsch Award is to honour a prominent scholar engaged in the cross-disciplinary research of which Karl Deutsch was a master. The recipient will present the Karl Deutsch lecture at the 25th IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Brisbane and the lecture will be published in the International Political Science Review. The award is made on the recommendation of the IPSA Committee on Organization, Procedures and Awards (COPA). It is supported by the Karl Deutsch fund.

Juan Linz Prize

  • Amount: US$3,000
  • Nomination deadline: 15 November 2017

The purpose of the Juan Linz Prize is to honour a prominent scholar engaged in the Decentralization, Multinational and Multiethnic Integration and Federalism Comparative Research of which Juan Linz was a master. The recipient will present the Juan Linz lecture or leads a special session at the 25th IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Brisbane.

Prize of the Foundation Mattei Dogan awarded by the IPSA for High Achievement in Political Science

  • Amount: US$5,000
  • Nomination deadline: 15 November 2017

The Prize of the Foundation Mattei Dogan awarded by the International Political Science Association for High Achievement in Political Science is offered to a scholar of high international reputation in recognition of his/her contribution to the advancement of political science. The recipient for 2018 will be invited to present a prize lecture at the 25th IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Brisbane.

Global South Award:

  • Amount: US$ 1,000
  • Application deadline: 1 April 2017

Established to recognize the work done by a scholar from the Global South, and whose scholarly contribution is focused on the relevant countries/ regions/ themes. This award also recognizes cumulative body of work. The award recipient will be invited to present a prize lecture at the 25th IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Brisbane.

The Stein Rokkan Travel Grant Award:

  • Amount: US$ 1,000
  • Application deadline: 1 April 2017

The purpose of the Stein Rokkan fellowships is to assist a small number of graduate students to attend the IPSA World Congresses by covering their basic travel and accommodation costs. The recipients receive financial assistance towards travel and subsistence. The awards are made on the recommendation of the IPSA Committee on Organization, Procedures and Awards (COPA), and they are supported by the Stein Rokkan fund. Up to two recipients may share the award of US$1,000.
